What is SFBB?

Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) is a free food safety pack from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for small food businesses. Many restaurants, cafés and takeaways in England and Wales use it to meet their legal record-keeping duty.

Why do you need it?

Every food business in the UK must have written food safety procedures based on HACCP principles, and follow them. SFBB was written so small businesses can meet that duty in plain language, without a HACCP specialist.

SFBB is used in England and Wales. Scotland uses CookSafe and Northern Ireland uses Safe Catering instead.

What's inside?

The pack has two main parts:

There are also management pages such as staff training records, a supplier list, a cleaning schedule and allergen information.

Can you keep it digitally?

The FSA's SFBB page says the diary can be filled in and stored electronically. Inspectors look at whether records are accurate and actually followed, not at their format.

How Pomfy helps

Pomfy brings both parts of the SFBB pack to phone, tablet and computer, in the same order. Your team ticks checks in Turkish, Kurdish or English, and when the inspector arrives the records are shown in English on one screen. The assessment is always the inspector's.
